Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF – aka Bio-electromagnetic Therapy) is the application of electromagnetic fields to treat and prevent disease. Although PEMF may be new to most Americans, it has been studied systematically throughout Eastern Europe and in the countries of the former Soviet Union for over 40 years. Thousands of studies have been performed. It is already standard practice there.
How important is PEMF? In 1992 Dr. Andrew Bassett, who helped pioneer the first FDA approved device using pulsed electromagnetic fields, wrote:
"In the decade to come bioelectromagnetics will assume a therapeutic importance equal to, or greater than, that of pharmacology and surgery today.
